Welcome to Kindergarten Readiness!
Math
In math we will be learning how numbers show us how many, matching numbers with objects, identifying numbers, simple addition and subtraction using objects, identifying shapes, colors, making and identifying patterns and more. The weekly e-mail will explain which concepts we are working on throughout the week
LiteracyEach week we have a theme and focus question to guide our learning. We learn concept words to go with the theme and amazing words which are vocabulary words that may be tricky in our weekly story.
Every day we practice writing our names at arrival time. Our MN Reading Corps tutor works with us one on one to make sure that we are using proper hand grip, using only an uppercase letter for our first letter, and using the correct writing form. We also try to write our own names on all station projects that we complete. We use Jolly Phonics which provides us with a short song and motion to help us with the letter sound. Religion
For religion we use a curriculum for young children that covers topics by letter of the alphabet (p=prayer, t= trinity, etc). We also discuss any topic that may be specific to the liturgical season or month. Example- October is the month of the rosary, November we celebrate All Souls Day, etc.

Important Information
HOW TO DRESS FOR RECESS:
These are the guidelines that will be followed:
Science
Every day, we talk about the weather and current season. Other topics go with our theme for the week and will be mentioned specifically in our weekly email. Science in KR also involves discovering though our senses, and our sensory table is great for this! The sensory table changes throughout the year with things like, sand, water, corn, beans, rice, moon dough, snow and more inside of it!
MN Reading Corps
MN Reading Corps is an amazing program and we are blessed to have it and to have Miss Grace as our Reading Corps Tutor! She works with children individually and in small groups as well as doing various learning songs and rhymes throughout the day to reinforce skills and to help teach new ones!
